Thanks for helping people see the rivers of America. We want to make your experience an easy one. Read to learn more.
Is this just like Kickstarter?
We are not exactly like Kickstarter because we do not require a reward to be delivered to folks who help fund the mapping of a waterway. We believe that everyone is backing a mapping project because they want to be able to experience the virtual waterway. Therefore the finished mapping project is the reward. We are like Kickstarter in that we have a time limit on campaigns.
Can anyone start a campaign?
Yes. We know that everyone has a river that they love so if you want to map it than we want to help. However, individuals who are not associated with a public or private organization or business cannot launch a campaign on their own. In order for a private citizen to launch a campaign you must partner with an organization or business and have them create and submit the campaign. Many hands make for light work. Every river has a community of organizations, people, and businesses that care about the waterway. The best way to get campaigns funded is to get everyone on board.
How do I know you guys are legit?
Go to our About page and watch the Vice News story. Read about us on the FishViews News page. Check out our partners and sponsors, including Esri, the largest mapping company, and Amazon Web Service. We are also vetted by PayPal, Visa and MasterCard in order to receive payments. If you have any questions feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Is the money deducted from my credit card or bank immediately?
No. When you back a project you put a placeholder on your account. Once a project is fully funded the transaction is completed. If a project does not get fully funded before the deadline then the transaction is cancelled and no charges are made.
Can I cancel my contribution?
Yes, as long as it is done 24 hours before the deadline of the campaign and does not result in the campaign falling below the required funding amount.
